Homemade Whipped Cream for your Holiday Pie

When preparing traditional Holiday pie recipes, hours of preparation, work, baking, & cooling can be gone to waste instantly if it isn't served with whipped cream. Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie--even Apple Pie--all get taken to their heights when dolloped with fresh, silky smooth and slightly sweetened whipped cream. 

With so many other things to bake, make, and prepare on Thanksgiving the whipped cream can often be overlooked. Many times a white and blue tub gets put in the back of the fridge and taken out right before the pies get sliced--and why not? It's simple and for many families it's tradition. 

If you've never tried your hand at homemade whipped cream, though, your family may find itself having a new tradition! The best part about whipped cream is that it's easy, fast, takes only one ingredient and tastes infinitely better than any tub or can you'll ever buy.

The process for making whipped cream is simple: take heavy cream and beat it until it has become a pillowy cloud. Simple! And it gets even better--this whipped cream can be left in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 10 hours so you can make in the morning and have it sitting in the back of the fridge by the time everyone's ready for pie.


  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar


  1. Place the sugar into the mixing bowl and add the whipping cream. Whisk just until the cream reaches stiff peaks.
(Store any whipped cream in an airtight container for up to 10 hours. When ready to use, whisk again for a few seconds)
